Kyle makes his point with the Congressman!!! Members secured support for repeal of the onerous 3 percent withholding mandate, and educated House and Senate offices on the looming funding crisis facing the Highway Trust Fund. They also focused on final passage of a new water infrastructure program, and stressed the importance of contracting out to the engineering industry as an effective means to deliver innovative infrastructure improvements to the public. We also discussed with our representatives concerns over new rules and regulations being developed in Nebraska related to federal-aid transportation projects. The Senators and Congressmen have been supportive of our efforts to block certain rules and regulations that would adversely affect our members in Nebraska. The delegation pledged their support and assistance to working with transportation officials in DC on a resolution that would not impose unnecessary restrictions and prohibitions on the use of consultants in federally funded local projects. The ACEC/N members' visits to Capitol Hill joined the other ACEC "citizen lobbyists" from across the country who conducted more than 200 visits to Congressional offices to support important ACEC legislative initiatives. |
